June-July Newsletter: Card decks, Shelves, and New Websites, oh my

Hey heyy. Here we are, in the middle of summer (at least for us in the northern hemisphere). I’m trundling through some heatwaves to bring you the latest news in all of Windy Wallflower! Which is actually quite a few things since our last update. What’s been going on?! Let’s find out–

(This update is also coming in a bit delayed since I got caught up with back to back conventions… better late than never?)

Theropod Card Decks

Our latest campaign ended as a nice success! We funded both the Theropod deck recolour, and the brand new Ceratopsian deck! We unfortunately didn’t quite hit enough to unlock a reprint of the original colourway of the Theropod deck… but, all hope is not lost! We now have the Backerkit preorder store up and running, so if you missed your chance during the campaign, you can order your own deck (or more) there! On top of the unlocked cards, there’s another chance to unlock the original Theropod decks, as well as a reprint of our fan favourite: the King’s Grave blanket.

The blanket needs only a few more orders to unlock a reprint! The store closes on July 31st, so get it now!

Please check it out here!

Augustine

After some, uh, delays, we finally managed to finish up the second chapter of Augustine… on its brand new website, no less!

Check it out here!

You can now finish the chapter on the new site, and for now on follow the rest of the story there. What about the original website? It’s still around for now, but won’t be updated. Since we are leaving Hiveworks, we’ll have to migrate all our comics back from there… which is a process that’s currently ongoing. We’ll update with more when we have it. For now, though, enjoy Augustine in its new home!

Blackwood

Hey, more comics? Remember this one? I’m pretty sure I’ve been mentioning it a few times, and how I got the green light to finally start it. Anyway, that’s what I’ve been working on pretty diligently these past two months. The deadlines are tight, but doable, and I can’t wait to get this comic out there.

If you need a refresher about it (or… if I’ve never explained it, which is possible), here’s what this story is about:

Sam Hannegan is visiting her girlfriend’s, Boots Blackwood, family for the first time. Sam quickly finds out that the Blackwoods are all kinds of monster, including Boots herself. Sam has to grapple with the dangers of this, while Boots struggles to prove to herself she’s more than just what her family wants her to be.

Here’s a preview:

If all goes well, this book should be released next year!

Artist Alley Shop

Some of you might know us from our presence in the downtown Artist Alley Shop in Montreal, which stocks various artists around Canada, and acts as a permanent convention artist alley! We’ve had a shelf there since the beginning, and recently got an upgrade to a big shelf!

If you stop by, please check out our brand new shelf, in the corner on the second floor! We’ve got blankets, plushies, pins, and even some books!

Conventions

Well, I got so caught up in Montreal Comiccon and Maker’s Market that I didn’t get a chance to mention them before this newsletter went out… so if you saw us there, hello! Thanks!

Here’s what’s coming up:

Otakuthon – Montréal, QC // August 8-10
Ottawa Comic Convention (OCC) – Ottawa, ON // September 5-7
Hal-Con – Halifax, NS // November 7-9
Festival Hobby – Montréal, QC // December 7-8

For those of you looking to find us at Otakuthon this year, we’re gonna be in the vendors area, so look for us there.

There will probably be more of these as we head towards the holidays!

Alright! That’s it for now. Have a good one, folks. Stay safe, stay cool.

Cheers,
W&W
