August Newsletter – The Ride Never Ends

Well 2025 has sure been a doozy, hasn’t it!!! Oh boy! I would like off of this crazy ride at some point, thanks!!!

I’ll try to keep this update… positive. And try even harder not to mention how a certain country’s leader continues to make our lives stressful, but you know. I’m sure you know. And if you don’t, or support that in any way, I seriously suggest hopping off of this mailing list.

So… alright. Let’s get the ugly out of the way first:

Shipments to American Customers

So the de minimis exception for Americans ended on August 29th. Before, this meant small packages under $800 were except from duties–but now, every single thing will come with duties. What’s worse, right now other countries are expected to collect these duties from buyers to remit it for them–which, in the small time frame given, was impossible to set up infrastructure in time. This is why a lot of countries–a lot–are not even shipping to the US right now. They don’t have the means to work with this new policy.

Canada Post, for us, is still planning on shipping to the States, and is working with a third party to help collect duties. Which… is nice, but that still leaves us with a lot of problems, and why, currently, our shop is closed to US buyers. We don’t have a way on our site right now to collect these duties.

We’re playing… a waiting game, right now. This came so suddenly, and we don’t know what it will mean. Will it stick around? Will it… change again? In another month!? Who knows! I love this!! Whatever it is, we’re gonna do our best to reopen to American customers and mitigate the duties as much as we can, as soon as we can. But this does likely mean… you’ll have to pay a little more, if you order from us. And I hate it.

To make things worse… well, we also just ran the Kickstarter for our card decks, with plenty of American backers. We’ve already collected the shipping costs, and I’d really rather not have to charge more, but this just… decided to happen in the middle of it all. We’re not getting the cards until October, so we’re waiting to see the state of things by then. We’re in the middle of figuring out what to do there, and we’ll keep backers in the loop on what to do when the time comes.

(Also as a side note–we’ve recently done a little spruce up of our online shop if you wanna poke around (most noticeable on desktop!))

“Blackwood” Title Change

Anyway! On to better news! I’ve been talking a bit about “Blackwood”, or “The Curse of Blackwood Manor”, my next graphic novel that the both of us have been working very hard on these last few months. That title was always a working title, and after some heavy brainstorming, it now has an official title:

FANGS AND ALL

I am so, ridiculously, excited for this book, you have no idea. I’ve very nearly done sketching the whole thing, and Winter has been doing a phenomenal job inking it and bringing it all to life. I cannot wait for you all to read this, and I’ll be sure to let you all know once it’s up for preoder!

Conventions

We have a handful of conventions coming up in September! Jumping into the lovely fall weather with some lovely little markets. We also have the first holiday con confirmed:

Ottawa Comic Convention (OCC) – Ottawa, ON // September 5-7
Gouttière & Gribouillis – Montréal, QC // September 20-21
Hal-Con – Halifax, NS // November 7-9
Festival Hobby – Montréal, QC // December 7-8

There will no doubt be more as applications for holiday markets and conventions pop up!

The one I want to highlight here is Gouttière & Gribouillis, which is a brand new book market here in Montreal! It’s a comics-only show, so if you’re a fan of things like MCAF, it’s perfect–and full of incredible talent! Come join us for a wonderful weekend of comics!

Personal Stuff

Ending this… heavier newsletter on a lighter note, and chatting about some of the things we’ve been into and up to…

So… K-Pop Demon Hunters, huh? We gave it a watch, and next you know… we’ve seen it 5 more times and have the music album. Huh… how’d that happen??

Did you know that W&W is a part of the Cartoonist Co-Op? We joined this year and it’s been very nice to be part of a supportive network of artists and creatives! If you’re interested, consider checking it out here!

And finally, I’m ending this with a lovely photo of our boys. Look at them, behold them. Posing in the tub of all things. Scandalous….

Thanks for still kickin’ around.

Cheers,
W&W
