Wanna get to know us a little more? Here’s some common questions we get, maybe it’ll answer something kicking around in your brain. If not, we may happily answer you if you contact us (though this is not guaranteed, but we’ll try!)
THE BIZ
WHY “WINDY & WALLFLOWER”?
It’s a combo of two of our old usernames, the ones we met each other with. Winter used to go by “The JokingWallflower”, and Tas went by “Windyflamingo”. We just combined them, and Windy & Wallflower sounded good.
HOW & WHY DID YOU START “W&W”?
When the both of us came together, it just sort of worked out like this. Winter was doing lots of conventions, and Tas was doing comics. It all blended together, and now we’re here.
WHO ARE THE LITTLE GUYS ALL OVER THE WEBSITE?
Those are our mascots, Harpy & Hivver! Say hello!
WHAT DID YOU BUILD YOUR WEBSITES ON?
It’s all built on WordPress. Our main site uses the Chihuahua theme. Our shop uses the same with Woocommerce. Augustine uses the Toocheke theme.

CAN I USE YOUR ART/DESIGNS FOR TATTOOS?
- Ask us first what design you want. Generally everything should be fine, but there might be some artworks that are more personal and we would prefer not to be tattoos.
- This isn’t required, but would be very very appreciated if you could toss us a tip on our Ko-fi.
- Please show us when it’s done! We’d love to see it!
WHICH DO YOU PREFER? TRADITIONAL PUBLISHING OR SELF-PUBLISHING?
This is a tricky question that’s hard to answer without it being really long. They both have their merits and setbacks. We’re lucky to be able to self-publish as much as we do, especially since there’s a lot of local book printers we have access to. There’s more control in self-publishing, but trad publishing also provides avenues we can’t really get to on our own, such as much wider distribution. We’ll probably make a post going into more depth about it all at some point, but for now the answer is: both work, it entirely depends on the project.
BOOKS
WHAT’S YOUR COMIC PROCESS LIKE?
Although a lot of comic duos tend to be writer + artist, we do both. It ends up being a huge trade-off–we usually brainstorm the story together, Winter will script and thumbnail it, then Tas will sketch it, then Winter will ink it, and Tas colours/shades. There’s some exceptions depending on projects, but that’s typically how it goes. It’s often similar for our merch, too.

CAN I GET YOUR BOOK(S) IN OUR LOCAL LIBRARY?
YES. If you’re a librarian looking to stock our books in your library feel free to contact us for more info/let us know what you need. If you’re asking to request a book for your local library we are working on a page to help facilitate that it’s just a work in progress currently!
CONVENTIONS
WILL YOU EVER COME TO [X] CON?
Boy would we love to! As you can see, we do a lot of conventions, and we apply to even more–but we don’t always make it in! Conventions outside of Canada are also much harder for us to justify attending. So… who knows. But if you really want us there, consider asking that convention to have us as a guest! We’d be way more inclined if we were invited!
